Hello! My name is Lacie Schuh and I teach in 1st grade at Brillion Elementary School. I started to raise funds to give each of my 22 students a book a month - fiction or nonfiction.📙
My goal was to find a Book Buddy for each student in my first grade at Brillion Elementary School. A Book Buddy is someone who would sponsor a child by contributing $20. I would then purchase a $2 book (from Scholastic Book Club) each month, September thru June. 📒
In years past, the students LOVED bringing home a new book each month.
New books are such a fun way to create and build a life-long love of learning. 📙
Well today was the day we got our first book of the month called Little Acorn. They were so excited to see it at their table spots this morning that many started to read it right away. We talked about the book and then had a chance to listen to it as a class. This month's book was donated by an aunt of mine and a grandparent of one of the students. If you’re interested in helping me with this project , you can contribute via the link (https://shop.scholastic.com/viewCampaign?campaignId=e050701f-437c-4bbf-a834-e7cf643058d8)
Thanks in advance for supporting my first grade students and the love of reading! 😍 #brillionlions

September is Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month, which we think is an ideal time to remind everyone about the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in Wisconsin. By dialing 988, callers will be connected to trained counselors who can provide emotional support and help people find local resources.
This free service is available for everyone. Whether seeking help for themselves or someone they know, people can call or text 988 and get connected to someone who can help.
Suicide Prevention Month is also a great time to share new informational materials based on the latest mental health research. The following graphic is one example of materials available on the National Institute of Mental Health website. https://tinyurl.com/rhmhv5jf
