In music class, elementary students are learning about influential Black musicians during the month of February. Currently in the classroom is a display of 32 featured artists. The students were told that if they believed an artist deserved to be added to the display, they could research that person and submit their rationale in writing. A 3rd grade student did just that and went above and beyond to research the musical artist Pharrell Wiliiams. Ms. Rice could not be more proud of this student for his efforts! Pharrell Williams has had a successful career as a musician, producer, and fashion icon. In addition to his influence on music in the 2000s, he is also a passionate philanthropist and activist for causes including conservation and human rights. #brillionlions

Last week on the no-school day staff from the Brillion Public Library came to the extended care program and read a Winter book. Students then experimented with vinegar and baking powder and created creatures out of air-drying clay. Later students moved their bodies and had a snowball fight in the gym! We are very fortunate to network with the library; they always bring fun ideas to our program! #brillionlions

Hey, Brillion fans! We will be coming together at our home basketball games this week Thursday and Friday to support Marlie Boettcher, a 2024 BHS graduate. Marlie was in a skiing accident on February 9th and is currently in the neuro ICU at UW Health in Madison where she is being treated for a traumatic brain injury. She is stable, but will have a long road to recovery. To alleviate some of the medical expenses for the Boettcher family and help make that long road a little easier, at our games this week we will have fundraiser buckets, we'll be selling bracelets, and there will be a t-shirt order form available on Thursday and Friday. There will be a Miracle Minute fundraiser held at halftime of each game. On Friday, there will also be basket raffle items at the boys' game. We'd also love to see the stands full of pink and green at the games! Pink is Marlie's favorite color, and green is the color for traumatic brain injuries. Please come and support Marlie and her family on Thursday or Friday- we thank you in advance! #fightlikemarlie #brillionlions

Thank you Captain T.J. Bastian for your support and service to the Brillion Public School's staff, students, and community. A School Resource Officer's, (SRO), assignment is unique within the law enforcement profession. These sworn law enforcement officers fill a three-part role, serving as informal mentors or counselors, law educators, and law enforcement officers to support the students and communities they serve. They are valuable and essential members of the education community who deserve unwavering respect and support from the public in the pursuit of keeping schools and students safe. #brillionlions #SROsAreValuable
